The "Mini" Advantage

Standard PCNL uses a larger tract (10mm), but Mini-PCNL uses a miniaturized scope, requiring an incision as small as a pen tip. This means less bleeding and faster healing.

Who Needs Mini-PCNL?

RIRS is great, but Mini-PCNL is the champion for large stones.

  • Large Stones (> 20mm / 2cm)
  • Staghorn Stones (Large branching stones)
  • Hard stones that Laser can't break easily
  • Failed previous RIRS or Lithotripsy

How We Do It

1

Tiny Puncture

A precise needle puncture is made in the back (flank) under X-Ray or Ultrasound guidance.

2

Fragmentation

A nephroscope enters the kidney. Laser or pneumatic energy breaks the stone into chunks.

3

Suction

The stone fragments are sucked out immediately. The tiny hole is closed with 1 stitch (or none).

Recovery Timeline

Unlike open surgery which takes weeks, Mini-PCNL gets you back on your feet quickly.
