ESWL Machine

How Does It Work?

You simply lie on a comfortable table. A specialized machine generates focused shockwaves that travel harmlessly through your skin and muscle. These waves hit the stone, causing it to crumble into sand-like grains, which you later pass naturally in urine.

Selection Criteria

Is ESWL Right For You?

ESWL is excellent, but it doesn't work for every type of stone.

Ideal Candidate

  • Softer Stones (Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate)
  • Located in Upper or Middle Kidney
  • Patients afraid of anesthesia

Honest Comparison

The Benefits

1. Zero Invasion: Absolutely no instruments enter your body.

2. No Anesthesia: Usually done with just mild sedation or painkillers.

3. Quick: The session takes about 45-60 minutes.

The Trade-off

1. Multiple Sessions: Hard stones might need 2-3 sittings to break completely.

2. Passage Pain: You still have to pass the stone fragments yourself.

3. Success Rate: Slightly lower clearance rate compared to RIRS laser.
